Le Poème Harmonique & Vincent Dumestre

Founded by Vincent Dumestre in 1998, Le Poème Harmonique is an ensemble of enthusiastic musicians dedicated to the performance of 17th & 18th century’s music. Enjoying a strong presence on the French and international scenes, its inventive and demanding programmes reflect a knowledgeable approach to the musical repertoire and an in-depth appreciation of vocal and instrumental textures. 2019 has been marked by the 20 years of the ensemble.

It is invited to play in the world’s leading music venues including Philharmonie de Paris, Opéra Comique, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Royal Opera of Versailles, Festivals of Ambronay, Beaune or Sablé, Wigmore Hall (London), Forbidden City Hall (Beijing), Wiener Konzerthaus, Oji Hall (Tokyo), Columbia University (New York), Teatro San Carlo (Naples), Accademia Santa Cecilia (Rome), the BBC Proms… and is also strongly committed to Normandy, its residency region.

It performs pieces from the life at Versailles to Baroque Italy (Lalande, Lully, Charpentier, Purcell, Monteverdi…), and also paints vast operatic frescoes, acclaimed shows as Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, as other shows in which music meets other artistic disciplines.

Le Poème Harmonique is subsidised by the French Ministry of Culture (DRAC of Normandy), the Normandy Region, the Department of Seine Maritime, the City of Rouen and in partnership with the project Démos – Philharmonie de Paris.
